RGD "System Down" Survival Guide

How to Apply In-Person Without Losing Your Mind

⚠️ CURRENT STATUS: ONLINE SYSTEM OFFLINE

Heads up: The online portals for Registering a Birth and Applying for Certificates are currently UNAVAILABLE.

This means you MUST go in person. Do not just show up empty-handed. If you miss one document, you will be turned away at the gate. Use the checklists below to get it right the first time.

👶 Protocol 1: Applying for Birth Certs

Since you can't click "Order Online" right now, you need to visit an RGD Regional Office (Twickenham Park, Portmore, etc.).

The "Don't Get Turned Back" Checklist

📝 Completed Application Form: Download the "Application for Certified Copy of Birth Certificate" form and fill it out at home. Do not wait until you get there.
🔢 Birth Entry Number: This is the secret code (e.g., GAP0123). Look at an old copy or the pink slip. If you don't have it, you must pay extra for a search.
🆔 Valid ID: Driver's License, Passport, or Voter's ID. No ID, no service.
💵 Cash/Card: Bring both. Systems go down. Be prepared to pay the Search Fee (~$500) + Certificate Fee (~$2,500+).

🍼 Protocol 2: Registering a New Baby

The online registration is down. Here is how to make sure your baby exists on paper.

💡 Did you do "Bedside Registration"? If you registered at the hospital, you don't need to re-register. You just need to apply for the certificate (See Protocol 1).

If You Missed Bedside Registration:

🏥 Immunization Card: The "Passport to Health" book you got at the clinic.
👫 Parents' ID: Both mother and father need valid ID. If unmarried, the father MUST be present to be added to the birth paper.
💍 Marriage Certificate: If married, bring the original certificate so the father's name can be added automatically.

🕊️ Protocol 3: Death & Marriage

Insurance claims and visas are waiting. Don't let a missing paper stop you.

For Death Certificates:

⚰️ Burial Order: You need the Registration Number from the Burial Order given by the police/doctor.
🔎 Correct Spelling: Verify the deceased's name matches their ID exactly. If the Death Cert says "Jon" but the Insurance says "John," you won't get paid.

For Marriage Certificates:

💒 The Pink Form: Bring the copy of the Marriage Register you signed at the wedding. It has the crucial Entry Number.
