We've all been there: You show up to renew your license, feeling confident, only to be told the system is "locked" because of a $500 ticket from 2019 that you completely forgot about.
Now you have to leave, go to Court (which is packed), and lose a whole day of work. Stop. Do not leave your house until you read this.
🚓 Step 1: The Ticket Lookup
Before you even think about renewing, you must check your status. The system is linked. If you owe money, the machine will reject you.
⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING
If you have a warrant or unpaid ticket, do not go to the Tax Office. You will be turned away.

You don't need to visit the court yet. Use the online portal to check your status instantly.

Enter Details: Use your TRN or Driver's License Number to search.

Pay Online: If the ticket is visible and NOT marked "Court Required," pay it immediately via the TAJ Portal using a credit/debit card.

Court Date Passed? If the ticket says "Warrant" or "Court," you cannot pay online. You must visit the specific Parish Court listed on the ticket to clear it.

If your tickets are clear, you have the "Green Light." Do not waste time in the general line.

Photos: If your license photo is over 5 years old, bring 1 passport-sized photo (certified by a JP).
