1 What You Need First (Prerequisites)
- Active Certificate of Fitness: Your vehicle must have a valid fitness logged in the islandwide depot database.
- Active Certificate of Insurance: Your insurance must be active and updated in the central insurance database.
- Private Registration: Valid only for private motor vehicles (white licence plates). Commercial/PPV vehicles require physical Tax Office processing.
- Payment & Email: A valid Visa or Mastercard debit/credit card and an active personal email address.
2 Step-by-Step TAJ Portal Navigation
- Step 1: Create / Log In to TAJ eServices: Visit the official TAJ portal (
jamaicatax.gov.jm). Click "eServices" and create a user account, or log into your existing account. - Step 2: Locate Vehicle Renewal: On your main account dashboard, navigate to the "Motor Vehicle Services" section and click "Renew Motor Vehicle Licence".
- Step 3: Input Vehicle Details: Enter the required information directly from your current/expired certificate:
• Licence Plate Number
• Chassis / VIN Number
• Vehicle Registration / Certificate Number
• Desired Expiry Period (6 Months or 12 Months) - Step 4: Enter Payment: Enter your card details to process the official TAJ government fee.
