Master the RGD Online Portal.

01 Jamaican Birth Certificate Online

Whether you are applying for yourself, your child, or a family member, using the RGD online portal solves the problem of long lines. Once you gather the required details below, you simply input the data into the portal, choose your processing speed, and pay online.

1 Information You Must Gather First

  • Full Legal Name at Birth: First, middle, and last name exactly as recorded at birth.
  • Exact Date & Place of Birth: Day, month, year, and the parish of birth.
  • Mother's Full Maiden Name: Essential for search verification in the RGD database.
  • Father's Full Name: Required only if his name was officially recorded on the original birth record.
  • RGD Birth Entry Number: Found on Line 3 of old certificates. Entering this number skips manual searches, speeding up your processing time!
  • Applicant Info & Relationship: Your contact info and legal relationship to the person on the certificate (e.g., Self, Mother, Child).
Pro-Tip: Fathers Not on the Record If a father's name was never officially added to the birth certificate, he can still order a copy online using the mother's maiden name. However, the printed certificate will still show a blank space for the father. Officially adding a father's name requires a separate legal process ("Addition of Father's Particulars") with forms signed before a JP.

02 Jamaican Death Certificate Online

Official death certificates are required for estate settlement, insurance claims, and property transfers. Applying online avoids long delays at government counters, provided you have exact date and location data ready for the portal search.

1 Information You Must Gather First

  • Full Name of Deceased: First, middle, and last name.
  • Exact Date of Death: Day, month, and year of passing.
  • Place of Death: Hospital, residence address, or parish where the death occurred.
  • Age at Death & Gender: Age of the deceased at passing.
  • RGD Death Entry Number: Located on burial orders or older copies. Entering this accelerates the search.
  • Applicant Info: Your full name, contact info, and declared relationship to the deceased.

03 Jamaican Marriage Certificate Online

Whether needed for passport name changes, spousal sponsorship, or legal documentation, applying online is the fastest route to receive official certified copies of a Jamaican marriage record.

1 Information You Must Gather First

  • Groom's Details: Full legal name prior to marriage.
  • Bride's Details: Full maiden name used before marriage.
  • Exact Date of Marriage: Day, month, and year of the wedding.
  • Place of Marriage: Church, hotel/resort, or venue name and parish.
  • Officiant's Name: Name of Marriage Officer, Minister, or JP who conducted the ceremony.
  • RGD Marriage Entry Number: Found on previous copies or church registry receipts.

04 Portal Workflow, Timelines & Delivery

Once you input your certificate details into the online portal, you will reach the final selection screens where you customize your processing speeds, copy count, and fulfillment options.

1 Selecting Your Processing Timeline

The RGD portal allows you to select how quickly you need your certificate produced. Speed directly impacts total government fees:

  • Express Service (7 to 10 Working Days): Premium tier for urgent legal or travel needs.
  • Ordinary Service (approx. 6 Weeks): Standard lower-cost timeline for non-urgent records.

2 Copy Quantities, Cost & Delivery Options

  • Select Copy Count: You can request 1, 2, or multiple certified printed copies in a single portal transaction. Total cost dynamically calculates based on copy count and speed selected.
  • Delivery Options: Choose between local branch pickup in Jamaica or courier delivery straight to your doorstep (local islandwide or overseas diaspora delivery).
  • Online Payment: Complete the portal checkout using a valid Visa or Mastercard.

What if you MUST go to an RGD Branch in person?

While the online portal is recommended, if you are forced to visit an RGD branch in person, keep these strict verification rules in mind:

  • Valid ID Required: You must present an unexpired Government Photo ID (Voter's ID, Driver's Licence, or Passport).
  • No ID? You must present a passport-sized photograph of yourself officially certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP).
  • Using a Proxy/Bearer? If sending someone else to apply or collect for you, they must bring their own Valid ID plus an Authorization Letter signed by you and certified by a JP.
